Includes a cheeky 5% Malbec, and comes from a vineyard planted in the 1860s and 1950s. As an aside, it’s great to see wines coming out of the Barossa that feel more ‘natural’ and not tricked up in the winery so much, and not ashamed of tannin.

Plum, dried roses, a sweet earthy thing going on, liquorice and vanilla. It’s full-bodied, flooded with ripe plum and dark cherry, but also plays meaty and earthy, with a luxurious suite of fat graphite tannin – certainly has a stony/mineral feel to it – lovely unobtrusive acidity, and a very long perfumed finish, slick with ripe tannin.
