Eperosa Meld 2016
Posted on 21 August 2018.

Mataro, Grenache and Shiraz. The only wine made from the 2016 vintage, due to fermentation issues in a new winery. That is, they don’t use packet yeast, so the natives were listless at the time, as it were.
Deep, rolling wine, packed with bitter chocolate and dried herb, thick with tannin and flavour, a lavender perfume in its midst, spice too, and an almost ashen (but good) finish. Acidity sits comfortably within the wine. It’s very purple. Very adult. And very good. I’m thinking this would be magic with a cassoulet, or perhaps a sausage sandwich. I’d drink it young, though it may well age well.
