2021 Krondorf Shiraz, Krondorf, Barossa Valley - 100% Shiraz
The Krondorf Shiraz is from vines planted in 2014 that immediately surround our winery.  We've been waiting for the vines to mature with anticipation of the fruits quality largely due to the beautiful red-clay over calcareous soils they grow on.  The vines  are  a selection of four of my favourite Shiraz clones that were chosen for their propensity to produce high quality wines with distinct characters.  With seven years of maturity combined with the stellar 2021 vintage we decided that the fruit had reached a level of quality that could warrant a standalone wine, hence the 2021 Krondorf Shiraz.  The vines are organically farmed, hand rod and spur pruned and handpicked.
 Tasting Notes:  Poised, powerful blackish-red fruits that are masculine and chiselled. Black spices and star anise with notes of high tone liquorice and cassis. A meaty savoury edge ensues with a ferrous/iron like structure that flows through to carbon/graphite like tannin.  Length and persistence to the structure of the wine.  An exciting debut for the Krondorf Shiraz!
