100% Grenache - Krondorf, Barossa Valley
Estate Vineyard, Single Block - 1903 planted
1584 bottles filled
We're excited to release the first single vineyard wine from our estate vineyard in Krondorf. A wine brimming with vibrant red fruits full of vitality and a core of complexity born from the 1903 planted Grenache vines. The vines grow on a sandy loam over heavy red clay over calcareous marl akin to the classic 'Terra Rossa' soil type. This soil type is mineral rich and has the capacity to store large volumes of soil moisture under tension for the vines to use through the summer period. A key factor to the brilliance and vitality of the fruit and wine it produces.
Tasting Notes: Bright pale pink to purple meniscus. There's a wonderful mix of savoury and fruit based aromas showing a ferrous raspberry and red pastille lift with lower tones of rhubarb, tea leaves and bramble.
An explosive mid-palate gives raspberry and strawberry crunchiness with a rose water lift that sits aside a savoury ferrous and brambly line giving balance and intrigue. A multi-layered wine with a long red fruited mineral finish.
