50% Grenache-50% Mataro - Krondorf Vineyard, Barossa Valley. Organically farmed.  1903 Grenache, 2014 bush vine Mataro. Soil: Sandy loam over heavy red clay over a calcareous subsoil.  Handpicked. 100% whole bunch indigenous yeast fermentation for 3 weeks.  Basket pressed to French oak 500L puncheons and aged for 20 months. Tasting Notes: Wonderful interplay of energetic red fruits, minerals/rocks and delicate gamey savouriness and spice.  Red currant, dark spices, ferrous/iron clay-like edge, cloves, pate jelly.  Lovely length and presence through the palate with a flow or lifted red fruits, dark spices and meaty/gamey complexity that tails off to a clove and spice finish.
