2022 Magnolia Shiraz

The Magnolia Shiraz is sourced from the younger vines on the block that date back to 1986 (38yo). These vines are farmed with the same love and detail as our oldest vines with the added benefit of more diversity in soil type and vine genetics. The result is a wine of serious depth and complexity which over delivers for its price point. An organically farmed, single vineyard wine consisting of fruit from vines planted in 1986 (53%, dry farmed), 2010 (28%, dry farmed) 2017 (19%). The majority of the contributing soils are deep granitic alluvial sands with the vines planted in 2017 on shallower sands littered with mica and rose quartz rocks overlying podzolic clay. The elevation ranges from 305-335m with additional cold air drainage from the three gullies and Eden Valley above. 14.1% Alc.
Tasting notes: Blueberries, redcurrants and rhubarb. Gamey, provincial herbs, iron/ferrous, violets, liquorice, cassis and pepper. Classy and luscious red/black fruits on the palate – raspberry, redcurrant and blackberry tart. Elegant juicy fruit persistence through the mid palate with energy and liveliness following through to fine, svelte tannins. A beautiful wine that totally over delivers for your midweek and will keep up with the Jones’s on the weekend.
