The Grenache-Mataro combines three stunning and very old Grenache blocks, our Magnolia 1950, Krondorf 1903 and the Stonegarden 1858 with an average age between them of 117 years. The Mataro is from our Krondorf bush vines planted in 2014, not that old but already producing exemplary fruit. The wine has vibrant raspberry cola and raspberry cream aromas with finer details of rose, ferrous/iron and spices. The palate is energetic and alive with delicate raspberry and cranberry red fruits and a lovely stalky/mineral tension through the mid palate that finishes with an interplay of white pepper and spices. Refreshing and vital yet complex. Highly drinkable yet thoroughly thought provoking and interesting.
