LRC Greenock Shiraz - Barossa Valley
144 Shiraz, a few Riesling, one Mataro and a lone stranger make up a stand of vines that once formed the boundary row of an old vineyard. The siblings of this row have long gone with subdivisions and housing taking their place. The boundary row survived as they grow on land owned by the Light Regional Council - LRC. The LRC has recognised the importance of these beautiful 42 year old Shiraz vines and in conjunction with Eperosa's sister company Grocke Viticulture have ensured their survival.
Loveday - Moppa Springs Vineyard - Barossa Valley
Situated in Moppa Springs Ken & Sue Loveday's vineyard consists of 1.6Ha of Shiraz. The vineyard is 340m in elevation and has a gentle Easterly aspect. These site characteristics moderate temperatures through the growing season delaying ripening and allowing an increased accumulation of colour and flavour compounds within the fruit. The soils are lean sandy loams over tight clay and ironstone rock. These soils help moderate vine vigour allowing the vines to be naturally well balanced producing magnificent fruit.
Mibus 'Stonehut' Vineyard - Eden Valley
Bruce and Ros Mibus's Stonehut property is situated at 365m above sea level and is planted to Shiraz. Eperosa sources Shiraz from the 'Hill Block' which is easterly facing and is littered with parent rock. These lean, well drained soils help moderate vine vigour producing wines of greater depth and intensity than typical Eden Valley Shiraz.
Ebenezer Growers - Marcus Schulz, John Schiller, Adrian Hoffmann
Three excellent Ebenezer growers that have magnificent vineyards in the proven Ebenezer sub-region of the Barossa Valley. The soils are commonly sandy loam over heavy red clay which provide a controlled yet accessible source of water allowing the vines to produce stunning fruit. Cool nights are also a feature of the area further improving quality. These site factors along with beautiful old vines is why Eperosa sources fruit from the Ebenezer growers.
